We wanted to share with you an update regarding surgical gowns, drapes and nursing education books that were donated to Project Mercy by Global Partners volunteers and donors. Many people have asked if these have made it to Ethiopia yet. The books in particular were donated by a number of individuals who “purchased” them during a book sale fundraiser held in early August. Donations from this fundraising event helped cover the cost of more than half of the textbooks needed by the Health Science College in Yetebon, Ethiopia!
We heard from Barb at Project Mercy this week and here is her note: “Betru said most of the gowns and books have already gone over…the rest will go with the Taylor Lighthouse [team from Taylor University] going next month. The sewing machines haven’t gone yet…a little bit harder to get through Customs…”
Just a reminder that we can still use more scrubs and twin sheet sets! Thank to those of you who have already donated. We have already received 4 twin sheet sets and our hope is to bring at least 30 sets in February. Donations can be dropped off in the clinic entrances in La Crosse and Onalaska in the blanket drive receptacles until January 15th.
